Attendance
Every school day counts in a child's academic life...
A missed school day is a lost opportunity for students to learn.
Teacher effectiveness is the strongest school-related determinant of student success, but chronic student absence reduces even the best teacher's ability to provide learning opportunities. Students who attend school regularly have been shown to achieve at higher levels than students who do not have regular attendance.
RESEARCH SHOWS THAT ATTENDANCE IS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR IN STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
Great attendance has positive implications for later outcomes in life. High school students with strong attendance records have been found to exhibit a history of positive behaviors, including higher graduation rates and better job success after high school. The effects of lost school days build up one absence at a time on individual students. It is incredibly important students are at school every day, all day. One lost day of instruction is difficult to make up. If your child MUST be absent from school, please contact our front office immediately so that we can log the absence. Failure to contact our front office results in the absence being logged as a truancy.
Students with three or more unexcused absences are referred to the district SARB (School Attendance Review Board) for investigation.
