Miss Olson, Student Connections Counsellor
My name is Alissa Olson, Student Connections School Counselor for Kings Canyon Unified School District (KCUSD). Born and raised in Reedley, my educational journey began in KCUSD, from Kindergarten through 12th grades. After high school, I studied at Reedley College (Associates of Arts degree), Cal Poly SLO (Bachelor’s- Communication Studies), San Francisco State University (Master’s- School Psychology), and Fresno State (certificate of eligibility- Administrative Services). I enjoy being back in my hometown and supporting high school students in their pursuit of their dreams for life after graduation. I work at Kings Canyon High, Orange Cove High, and Reedley High schools, and assist students with various academic-related needs. Together, the students and I will often set short-term goals related to their educational paths, followed by frequent check-ins to monitor those goals. One of my favorite quotes to share with students, especially during the pandemic, is that “We will get through this together.” (-author unknown); high school alone can present many challenges for students, but I believe that by working together with teachers and support staff, students can make progress and thrive!
